Silent Guardians
by Lucy Allen
In the dawn’s gray light of winter,
they stand at the edge of the pond.
Tall and white, I catch the sight of the hardwoods; now bare.
They seem to stretch from heaven to earth,
how the scene implores me to stare.
As I study this picture of dark and light,
just as these silent sentinels stand guarding the pond,
I’m reminded of God’s great love
where angels surround me with divine protection,
that could only come from above.
The day cold and damp, such is my heart…
until I remember that God Himself has encamped His guardians around me.
His lamp shines, so I can see,
He keeps me day to day; protects me on my way
and shows His amazing love for me.
Psalm 91:11: “For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
